A woman convicted of setting multiple fires at her rural Barnesville farm is seeking a new trial.
A jury last spring found Tara Andvik guilty of setting the fires at her own farm. The 35-year-old is serving out her sentence in Shakopee. According to court documents, a twin cities lawyer representing Andvik is seeking a new trial, alleging her husband Matt Andvik or a neighbor had motive and opportunity to set those fires despite Tara's confession to the arson fires. The appeal also claims ineffective counsel and pre-publicity of the case.
