BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency
says 27 North Dakota counties have reported damage from last
month's ice storm.
FEMA teams are in the state evaluating damage from the ice storm
and a blizzard that followed. The storms downed or damaged more
than 1,800 electrical poles and knocked out power to about 6,200
rural electric customers.
Power was not restored to the final two homes until Tuesday.
Gov. John Hoeven earlier declared a statewide winter storm
disaster and asked FEMA teams to assess the financial impact of the
storms. It is the first step toward a presidential disaster
declaration that would pave the way for federal aid.
