Grand Forks Man Takes Gold in Special Olympics

A Grand Forks man recently won a gold medal at the Special Olympics World Games in Korea. 21-year-old Tommy Mikkelson won a gold medal in the Alpine Novice Super G.

A Grand Forks man recently won a gold medal at the Special Olympics World Games in Korea. 21-year-old Tommy Mikkelson won a gold medal in the Alpine Novice Super G.

Mikkelson has been competing in the special olympics for nine years. Not only does the olympian compete in alpine skiing but year-round in basketball, aquatics, bowling, soccer, and track & field. We will have more with the athlete when he returns from the games.
