Competition Heats up for Local Fitness Centers

A handful of workout facilities have been popping up in town over the last few months, and we've done a little digging to see what all that competition is like for the gym owners.

Employees from Anytime Fitness, Snap Fitness and the UND Wellness Center all seem to agree that friendly competition is a good thing. They say the key to staying on top in the fitness world is to offer clean facilities, a friendly staff and convenience. A few extra touches don't hurt either, like learning the names of all their members. Molly McWilliams, Anytime Fitness manager, "There's a lot of gyms, it's kind of cool to see that many pop up in one place. And lots of competition keeps me on my toes, that's for sure. So we haven't suffered a whole lot, which is I think good but I think it's just because more people are working out now."

McWilliams says more senior citizens are also starting to join thanks to special discounts offered through insurance companies.
