Four more horses are now staying at a safe haven ranch south of Mandan. Five days ago, around 100 horses were found dead on a ranch north of New Salem, and about 150 more are in the care of the Morton County Sheriff's Department.

25 were found in the most dire need of help. They were near death, and were sent to the Triple H Rescue. Two of them died, and this weekend four more were brought to Triple H Ranch. The founder, Alison Smith says they might all be dead, if it wasn't for the kindness of strangers. She says volunteers have given everything from horse blankets to hay bales to their time with the horses. Their most basic need is hay, they have enough for about two and a half weeks right now.
