The East Grand Forks mayor and councilmen are in the midst of trying to figure out ways to help fund major projects in town. Although Governor Dayton understands the city's concerns, the city is asking for a considerable amount of money and so are countless other small cities across the state.

There are three priorities on the agenda for East Grand Forks city leaders -- the park, pool and multi-million dollar waste water project. Despite the shortage of finding, Council President Buckalew says it wasn't like the city was begging for dollars from people they don't know. Buckalew, "Walking through the capitol building, it's almost like family reunion time." It's safe to say the city has connections, hopefully some that will help emphasize the need for state funding.

The Governor's visit next week will help the east side further understand the possible effects new North Dakota laws could have. Particularly the impact of a nix on North Dakota Sales tax on border cities. Dayton will be in town Tuesday afternoon at city hall to answer questions from the city, county and school district.
