HAWLEY, Minn. – The driver of a pickup was seriously injured in a rollover accident this morning on Highway 10 two miles west of Hawley.
Lifeflight helicopter airlifted 34-year-old Michael J. Engst of Milnor, N.D., to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.
Engst was driving east on Highway 10 at about 6:24 a.m. when his 2008 Ford pickup went into the center median and overturned near Hawley Municipal Airport, the patrol said.
Authorities briefly shut down eastbound Highway 10 after the accident, Sgt. Jesse Grabow said.
Troopers responded to multiple reports of vehicles sliding into ditches or medians this morning on Highway 10 and Interstate 94, Grabow said. He urged drivers to slow down and allow more time for their morning commutes.
“They’re very spotty,” he said of the roads.
A dozen vehicles had hit the ditch since I-94 reopened from Moorhead to Alexandria on Monday afternoon, he said.
