Light Snow Leads to Several Accidents
A dusting of snow led to dangerous driving earlier today. And the Highway Patrol was busy responding to calls of several people in the ditch.
It was a slick drive for a Fedex van this morning... The driver lost control on I-29, just north of Gateway Drive and rolled the van. The driver was not hurt. This was not the only vehicle to fall victim to the slippery roads, the Highway Patrol responded to several accidents today.
Steve Nicola: "We had a few good days there where the roads kinda dried up and people got a sense of security again and even with a light snow like this, the roads will get icy in a hurry."
The Highway Patrol says the interstate seemed to be most dangerous through town with conditions improving outside the city limits.
Steve Nicola: "We are seeing more ice around the city of Grand Forks, once you get into open country it seems to open up a little bit."
And even though the plow trucks are dumping sand on the interstate, the Highway Patrol says people still need to slow down.
Steve Nicola: "We've got the DOT, they are doing a great job, coming out and sanding the roads for us."
The Highway Patrol says there were 2 roll overs and 3 vehicles that slid off the road into the ditch this morning
