The US Postal Service is slashing the hours of operation at the Starkweather Post Office to cut costs. Postal officials met with concerned residents in Starkweather to explain how the change will affect them.

Starkweather residents say they're actually okay with the reduction in service if it means the town's Post Office won't go away completely. The Postal Service sent Starkweather residents a survey, asking for their opinions on how to still serve the community while cutting service. Carla Tinkham, U.S. Postal Service, "Most of the people chose to have the reduction in hours." The post office apparently listened. Instead of moving into an existing business or shutting it down altogether, the hours will be cut in half. The biggest change affecting customers will be the need to drop off packages earlier. Mail delivery should not be affected.
