Hallock, Minnesota will have a special hunting season to help solve deer problem in town.

City officials recently voted to hold a bow hunting season in an effort to reduce the population of deer roaming around town. Hallock Police Chief Mike Docken says some deer are semi-tame. He says they run down the streets like cows. Hallock is consulting with Warroad and Two Harbors, other northern Minnesota towns that have held similar hunts. Staff is working with the state, which requires a plan to be in place before May. Hunting will likely be limited to areas near the river that are on public land.
