FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Officials in Fargo are lining up sites for

sandbag storage as the spring flooding season nears.

Fargo Enterprise Director Bruce Grubb says the city hopes to

round up enough volunteers to fill 1 million sandbags over the

course of about two weeks, starting March 1.

He says officials are eyeing five warehouses and looking for

additional sites.

The most recent flood outlook from the National Weather Service

says there is an 86 percent chance of the Red River reaching major

flood stage in Fargo this spring.

Last spring, Fargo-Moorhead residents fought off two crests of

the Red River - the first at a record 40.82 feet and the second at

34 feet. Officials estimated people stacked about 6 million

sandbags to hold back the river.
