An early morning fire Wednesday has claimed a family barn and ten cows north of Hawley, MN.
A passing neighbor reported the fire around 3 a.m. It took firefighters about two hours to put out the blaze. Five cows and five calves died along with the old part of the barn. The other 130 cows are safe and the newer part of the barn is still standing. It's believed the fire may have been started by a skid-steer plugged in near the barn. A state fire marshall is still investigating.
