A nonprofit in Devils Lake that helps intellectually disabled people find work is looking for more jobs. The Lake Region Corporation trains disabled people with the goal of preparing them to lead independent lives, helping nearly 50 people contribute to the Devils Lake Community.

The Corporation contracts with several local companies. People in their program do everything from collect recycling for the city to refilling condiments at a local restaurant. The company is looking for more job contracts for things like assembly and packaging products. The corporation also teaches their workers about proper social skills for the workplace and for life. Program coordinator Stacy MacDonald says it's fulfilling to see people with disabilities become productive workers.

MacDonald, "It's a great feeling, especially when you remember them struggling in the beginning on all the things and then just seeing everything they've learned and they're so proud of themselves. And we're very proud of them too."

Businesses looking to contract workers from the Lake Region Corporation can call them at 662-8681.
