A Fargo man accused of passing off his wife's death as a suicide made his first court appearance Monday. Now Ronald Rogers is asking the Cass County for a public defender.

Rogers appeared before court via video, telling the judge since his arrest he's lost his job and needs a lawyer. Officials accuse the 46-year-old of killing his wife Elizabeth Rogers by shooting her in the head. They also claim he then took the pistol and put it in her hand to make it look like she did it herself. Ronald Rogers was arrested early Friday morning and later charged with murder and willful disturbance of a dead body. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 21st.
