Fargo, ND (WDAY-TV) Residents at an apartment in South Fargo say they have some messy neighbors. They've recently found dog feces and vomit lying untouched in the hallways. They say even after the messes are reported to management, it can take days for them to get cleaned up.
Shortly after entering this apartment building we found what appears to be dog feces on the stairs. We spoke with several residents here at West Winds apartments who say this sight is not uncommon.
Karen Bender – West Winds Resident: "I think it's just pure laziness on some of the people taking their stuff out, not being careful."
Karen Bender says these problems have been going on for months.
Karen: "It's just terrible. You find dog poop going down the stairs. I know somebody vomited out in front, they have machines they can use to clean it up. That wasn't done and it smelled forever and ever."
Her neighbors down the hall, the Lacko's, pointed out a few spots on the carpet where stains lingered after they say messes stayed there for days. Residents we talked to say they have called apartment management to complain about these issues. They say they're told that someone will be by to clean it up. We called the regional office for Metro Plains Management, which manages the property. While they didn't want to go on camera, they did send us this statement:
"Although providing an affordable pet friendly property presents challenges, we strive to provide our residents with a safe living environment. The property will continue to evaluate how we handle complaints in a timely manner.”
Metro Plains manages properties across the area, including ones in Grand Forks, Bismarck, and Minneapolis.
