Grand Forks received a record amount of snow Monday for the date, according to the National Weather Service, besting the third day of the super blizzard of 1966.

All the snow can really pile up after the parking lot is clear. People spent at least part of their day or evening making their own snow piles after clearing the 7.6 inches of snow that storm dropped in Grand Forks. On the western edge of town at the airport over nine inches fell. The street department and snow removal companies worked through the night to make sure the morning drive went smoothly, but people had to get out of their own driveways first.

The national weather service says the water content in the snow was less in Grand Forks than it was in the places that received more snow to the west of the city.
