St. Michael Man Pleads Guilty to Involuntary Manslaughter Following Drunk Driving Accident

A man from the Spirit Lake Nation has plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter.
38-year-old Jamie Belgarde of Saint Michael was driving while intoxicated on June 23, 2012, when he failed to negotiate a curve at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle vaulted from the road and rolled over before coming to a rest upside down. Belgarde's brother, Donald Belgarde Junior was pronounced dead at the scene. The charge carries a maximum sentence of eight years in prison. Belgarde will be sentenced on May 29th in US district court in Fargo.
