The Department of Transportation is asking the City of Grand Forks to help pay for construction on the Sorlie Bridge. It is asking the city for about $312,000, which the city would pay in annual installments. The city would pay $10,000 this year, and that money would come out of the infrastructure fund. It's still unclear how much the project will cost, since the DOT still has to determine if the bridge will be fixed or replaced. The bridge isn't up for construction until 2018, but the DOT is working on the preliminary engineering now; that should be finished in 2015.
