Hundreds of Lake Region students got a crash course in creativity today, while sharing their own innovative ideas. It's called Marketplace for kids, and organizers say it's a place where offer kids experiences they wouldn't otherwise get.
Elementary and Middle school aged kids learned about various professions, from flood fighting to agriculture to TV production. They also showed off their creative sides with their own inventions, including a frisbee-throwing robot built by students at North Star School. Organizers say Marketplace for Kids gives students a better up-close look at different ideas and professions they wouldn't normally get in the classroom. Students fill out surveys after their classes to help determine which presentations will come back next year. Devils Lake is just one of ten sites around the state Marketplace for Kids visits.
