The snowy season continues in the Lake Region. Heavy snow and strong winds closed schools and kept people largely inside Monday.

There were wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour today in Devils Lake, cutting visibility and making travel a hassle. There's a no travel advisory on Highway 2 all the way from Rugby to the Minnesota border. High winds created snow drifts on highways, making travel treacherous. Kevin Fieldsend with the Ramsey County Highway Department said conditions were too bad this morning to send out plow crews. He says it will take three days to clear county and township roads in Ramsey County. He says the wind is the biggest obstacle for his crews. The national weather service says there's a small chance the region could get another inch of snow before the storm passes.

Because of the high winds though, a blizzard warning is still in effect through 7 pm Monday night.
