Despite heavy snowfall in the past few weeks Devils Lake city officials say clearing it hasn't been a financial problem.

City Administrator Terry Johnston says Devils Lake is well within the planned snow-cleaning budget. The city allocates 40,000 dollars for snow removal each calendar year. Johnston says a dry January and early February mean the city has plenty of resources left to clear snow.

Johnston: "Our budget mainly consists of when we have to hire people to come in to haul snow and some of the cutting edged for the equipment, but if we don't get a big snow and our regular crew can get out and do it with just our workforce then we don't have any impact on our snow removal budget."

Johnston says the city likely won't remove snow from city streets again this year, instead opting to let Mother Nature do the job.
