New Lake Region State College President Doug Darling wants the state to help update the school's facilities.
Darling was officially named president on March 6th. He says the school's programs have grown by leaps and bounds in the last few years, but to grow more the school needs upgraded facilities. He's working with the state legislature to help fund an expansion of a building which houses the auto, nursing and wind energy tech programs. He says the expansion is his top priority coming into the presidency.
Darling: "North Dakota needs those jobs, but we're out of space, so our top priority is to get that project funded and then once it's funded, get it built."
Darling says we'll have to wait to see if the state will fund the expansion. He says the higher education bill is usually one of the last bills tackled during the legislative session.
