Bottle rocket measure defeated in senate

An attempt to repeal a law banning the sale of bottle rockets in North Dakota has failed. The North Dakota Senate defeated the bill Tuesday afternoon.

An attempt to repeal a law banning the sale of bottle rockets in North Dakota has failed. The North Dakota Senate defeated the bill Tuesday afternoon.

The legislature banned bottle rockets in 2009, however it is still ok to get them elsewhere and set them off in the state. The House approved the measure earlier this session. Senator George Sinner says there's a reason bottle rockets should be restricted in the state. His nephew lost eyesight from a bottle rocket incident.

Sinner: "This legislation is not about liberty - this legislation is about fireworks companies selling more stuff"

The legislature did pass a different fireworks related bill that allows fireworks to be sold between December 26 and January 1st.
