UND community discussion - "Who needs feminism?"

The "Who Needs Feminism" campaign is spreading the word to the UND community about why feminism is still needed today. Participants wrote down why feminism is important to them, then took a picture with what they wrote. The pictures now form a mural hanging in the Memorial Union.

The "Who Needs Feminism" campaign is spreading the word to the UND community about why feminism is still needed today. Participants wrote down why feminism is important to them, then took a picture with what they wrote. The pictures now form a mural hanging in the Memorial Union.

Organizers say they got double the response expected with more than 100 pictures hanging up. One of the organizers we spoke with says the new abortion laws make feminism even more relevant in the state. While she is against the laws, she says you can be pro-life and a feminist.

Nikki Berg Burin, campaign organizer: "I really think this is an opportunity for pro-life and pro-choice feminists to come together. If we really want to curb abortion, then we need to prevent unwanted pregnancies, that's where we start."

Supporters of the new abortion laws say it's a step in the right direction to curbing abortions, and worth the possible legal costs. The mural will stay up until April 5th.
