FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A self-employed scrap metal dealer in the Fargo-Moorhead area has pleaded guilty to tax evasion.
Twenty-seven-year-old Hamzo Omerovic faces up to a year in prison and a $100,000 fine. A sentencing date was not immediately set.
U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service found that Omerovic made more than $152,000 in the scrap metal business in 2006 and failed to pay more than $30,000 in taxes. Exact figures will be determined later.
