The City of Grand Forks will spend $2 million to renovate a downtown parking ramp. City council voted Monday night to do repairs for the 403-space ramp at First Avenue North.

Those will include smoothing damaged concrete, replacing concrete slabs and fixing supports for the structure. The bulk of the repairs are planned for June and July. The cost also includes the fiscal impact of closing the ramp for up to three months, a revenue loss of nearly 28,000 dollars for the city.

Greg Hoover, Urban Development Director: "There are some structural issues that we have to address and we have to address them very soon or we will not be able to use the ramp."

The repairs are expected to be complete by this fall.
