Odds of Fargo Flooding Increase

The National Weather Service says there's a 70 percent chance that the Red River in Fargo will go over 37 feet, which would force diking and sandbagging in some areas.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) - The National Weather Service says there's a

70 percent chance that the Red River in Fargo will go over 37 feet,

which would force diking and sandbagging in some areas.

The flood outlook released Friday by the weather service shows

that the Red River has a 96 percent chance of exceeding the major

flood stage of 30 feet, up from 86 percent in last month's outlook.

Flood stage for the Red in Fargo is 18 feet. The city

experienced record flooding a year ago.

Fargo City Administrator Pat Zavoral says officials have been

discussing flood preparations for the last couple of weeks. He says

the updated outlook should help with those plans.
