UND Begins Spring Football Practice

After a week of pushing practice back due to field conditions, the North Dakota football team started spring practice on Friday.

The UND football team spent the early part of the week shoveling snow off of Memorial Stadium Field. Friday, they spent time playing in it, giving coaches and players to see three very young quarterbacks.

After a long, cold winter, it was back to work for the UND football team.

Cordero Finley, UND senior linebacker, "It's great to be on the field rather than shoveling it."

And instead of tossing snow, the players were tossing footballs. One of those is Detriot Lakes, Minnesota native Joe Mollberg. And on this cold, blustery day, Mollberg is in the heat of a quarterback race.

Joe Mollberg, UND freshman quarterback, "I'm eager to get started. It's going to be good competition throughout this spring ball and fall ball next year. It's good to finally be back out there after a long winter of hard work and in the weight room."

But if the quarterback situation is up in the air, one thing is for certain-the great wide receivers.

Chris Mussman, UND head football coach, "You got a pretty good receiving core to throw to you just got to put it somewhere near them and they will hopefully come down with it."

Greg Hardin, UND senior wide receiver, "They're young so of course they're going to make mistakes but everyone makes mistakes and we're just going to get more confident in each other in what they do best and what we do best."

And North Dakota has some high expectations.

Baylee Carr, UND Jr. DB: "National championship. Someone's going to win it every year so why not us? We just need to come out step by step, day by day."
