MOORHEAD – Police say a tip from a citizen helped officers identify a vehicle suspected of hauling copper wire stolen from a Moorhead business, leading to the arrests of three Fargo men.
Fargo police arrested the three men after conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle, which contained copper wire allegedly stolen from Rick Electric Inc. in Moorhead.
Sabtijan Tahirovic, 20, Andreas Adu Redzic, 18, and Jon-Cody Poitra, 22, were being held in the Cass County Jail pending the filing of second-degree burglary and theft charges in Clay County, Moorhead Police Lt. Tory Jacobson said.
The burglary was reported Monday morning and is believed to have happened Sunday night, he said.
Jacobson said there’s nothing at this time connecting the three suspects to other open burglary investigations involving copper theft, including the reported theft of 26,000 pounds of copper worth $112,000 from Dakota Supply Group in north Fargo over the weekend. Fargo police called it the largest copper theft in memory in the Fargo area.
Jacobson said it’s important to have informed citizens willing to help police in such investigations.
“When somebody can call us like that, it really is an appreciated thing,” he said.
