Fargo very near 1-million sandbag mark

Despite this messy spring snowstorm in the region people in Fargo are thinking flood prep. The sandbag numbers are creeping higher and higher, almost reaching that one million mark.

Despite this messy spring snowstorm in the region people in Fargo are thinking flood prep. The sandbag numbers are creeping higher and higher, almost reaching that one million mark.

Crews began the day with 876,000, on pace to reach the goal of one million sandbags by late Thursday or early Friday. Students from Cheney Middle School manned the spiders this morning, filling and piling up thousands of bags for flood prep. Their hard work is pushing up the numbers well ahead of schedule, enough to make Fargo city officials smile.

Dennis Walaker, Fargo Mayor: "you set goals, and having a million today and we have another school that's going to come tomorrow, and after that's done, we're going to shut it down."
