Two people were injured this morning after their vehicle slid on ice and struck an Xcel Energy pole on the 1900 block of DeMers Avenue.

The accident occurred at just after 7:30 a.m. A 2003 GMC Sonoma truck driven by Jamie Swenson, 40, Grand Forks, was travelling westbound on DeMers when she lost control of the vehicle, most likely because of icy conditions, and the truck slid up the berm and hit a power pole, police said. Jamie Swenson and her passenger, Craig Swenson, 44, Grand Forks, were transported to Altru Hospital for non life-threatening injuries, police said.

The accident caused significant damage to the truck, police said. Jamie Swenson was cited for care required, police said.
