FARGO – Fargo police are investigating two armed robberies that occurred within the span of about two hours this morning.

The first robbery was reported at 5:04 a.m. at Petro Serve USA at 2110 S. University Drive.

Sgt. Bill Ahlfeldt said two suspects described as black males with their faces covered by scarves entered the store, demanded money from the clerk and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The second robbery, reported about 7 a.m. at West Acres All-Stop Convenience store at 3441 13th Ave. S., involved one suspect, described as a black male with a shirt covering his face. He ran from the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. A police K-9 unit tracked his footprints to a location near a motel a short distance north of the store, where it appears he got into a vehicle, Ahlfeldt said.

In both cases, the suspects indicated they may have weapons, but it’s unclear if a weapon was displayed, Ahlfeldt said.

Police were investigating whether the robberies may be related.

“One would assume they probably are since they happened in such a short period of time and similar descriptions of suspects,” Ahlfeldt said.

No one was hurt in the robberies.
