Volunteers in Fargo have reached their goal of filling one million sandbags in advance of anticipated spring flooding.

The mark was reached Thursday. Fargo's Sandbag Central opened April 3rd with the goal of filling a million sandbags in ten days. The site was scheduled to close this afternoon. The National Weather Service gives a 50 percent chance of the Red River reaching 38 feet, which would be the fifth-highest flood of all time in the area.
