Bismarck continues to dig out from weekend snow

Plows continue to work around the clock in Bismarck as the western part of the state still digs out from as much as two feet of snow.

Plows continue to work around the clock in Bismarck as the western part of the state still digs out from as much as two feet of snow.

Public Works Director Jeff Heintz says there are currently around 14 plows working across sections of the town. Although emergency routes were cleared first, now the focus is residential areas and side streets. This morning Heintz says around 50 percent of roads were cleared. By late tonight they should have gone through every street and at least got the center lanes open. Something that has left piles of snow in front of driveways is not using "snow gates". Heintz says more than 17 inches of heavy, wet snow is just too much for the snow gates. Mandan public works says they hope to complete residential streets by around one o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
