Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be mayor for a day? One local 4th grader knows first hand.
It's city government week in North Dakota and last night the Grand Forks council hosted a "mayor for the day" contest. Local 4th graders submitted essays explaining why they would make a great mayor. 4th grader Elliot Schumacher won the contest and Cloe Hanson was the runner up. The two won gift bags and will have a school visit from the mayor.
Schumacher: "I would also work to keep public recreation areas in tip-top shape and organize events for all ages."
More than 150 essays were turned in and all of the students who submitted one will receive a certificate.
