Local leaders are joining forces to tackle the flood fight with major projects kicking off early next week.
Beginning Monday, Fargo will start filling trap bags and building clay levees. Then tuesday, sandbag deployment begins, about a 3 day process with high school students working Thursday and Friday to place those bags. And despite being a potential record flood year Mayor Walker believes these plans will be enough.
Walaker: "I've always been an optimist as far as our planning is concerned. We will do what's necessary to protect oursevles. We've had the experience where the river went to 41 or almost 41 in 2009".
Governor Dalrymple says 4,000 national guard members are ready to go.
