ND Lawmakers take up childcare study

North Dakota lawmakers will have a better idea of the shortage of childcare in the state when the return for the next legislative session. That's because legislators have passed a bill to study the issue.

North Dakota lawmakers will have a better idea of the shortage of childcare in the state when the return for the next legislative session. That's because legislators have passed a bill to study the issue.

Senate bill 2244 in its original form had $7,000 in it to help train providers on how to care for kids with special needs and for any equipment or renovations a facility would need. The money was stripped out of the bill and turned into a study. As of now there are some funds earmarked for centers that care for kids with special needs in the Commerce budget.
