Construction of the “invisible floodwall” will begin Thursday morning along the Boardwalk in East Grand Forks.

Construction is expected to last 2 to 3 days, during which access to River Street will be closed, East Grand Forks officials said in a news release.

The Sorlie Bridge and DeMers Avenue will remain open during this phase of flood wall construction, according to the report.

Crews expect to complete flood wall work during normal business hours, according to Scott Huizenga, city administrator. After the flood wall is completed, the city then will begin with road closures and other flood preparations.

Flood-related updates are available on the flood page of the city’s website or at City Hall. Information also is available via Facebook and Twitter.
