Flood waters disable Fort Totten lift station

Some residents of the Spirit Lake Nation have had to ration their water use after flood waters knocked out a lift station in Fort Totten.

Some residents of the Spirit Lake Nation have had to ration their water use after flood waters knocked out a lift station in Fort Totten.

The lift station flooded early yesterday morning after a blocked culvert backed up. Those affected were asked to restrict their water usage to help prevent sewage from backing up into their homes. Spirit Lake officials say no one has had any problems with sewage yet. Crews pumped water from the lift station today. A replacement control panel arrived from Fargo this afternoon. They hope to have the lift station back up and running by this evening.
