Flood waters are starting to make an impact in the lake region. As feared, the spring runoff has washed over some rural roads, leaving them damaged and impassable.

Road crews across the region spent the day scrambling to determine how many roads were damaged by this weekend's runoff. Only a few roads in Ramsey County were affected, but the news is less encouraging in Benson County, where crews still aren't sure how many roads suffered water damage. The highway department flagged some roads that were damaged but still passable, and closed some that were torn apart by water. Some culverts in the area are still blocked with ice, making the flooding worse in spots. Benson County emergency manager Scott Todahl warns drivers that some flooded areas might not be properly identified yet. But despite the flood issues, he says the situation isn't as bad as he expected.
