The search continues for a missing man in northeast North Dakota. Authorities believe he may have been swept away by high water rushing over a gravel road near Minto.
Rescue crews are looking for 55-year-old Gregory Guy Miller, a resident of rural Grafton. Residents tell WDAZ Miller was travelling alone west of Minto when the flood water started to carry his truck off the road last night. Police say they believe Miller is in the water, although they haven't found him. It was around 7:00 pm Monday night that Guy Miller apparently called a friend for help, saying the water was carrying him away. Rescue crews from Minto, Grafton, Oslo and the Border Patrol searched the area last night, then crews were back again this morning to search with boats and a helicopter.
Most roads west of Minto leading into the town are closed because of overland flooding. Police say they found Guy Miller's truck about a mile west and a mile south of the community, but he was nowhere to be found. They say Miller's friend showed up to help Miller last night and the two waved at each other, but when Miller's friend tried to go around some water to get closer to him he couldn't find Miller again. 10:00 monday night the search was called off because it was too dark to continue.
This morning a helicopter was brought in to search as was the Grand Forks county water rescue team. Miller is a name many people in the town are familiar with -- his family has been farming in this town for years. Many Minto residents have been looking for ways to help with the search or aid rescue workers but those who know Guy Miller weren't willing to comment. Also, authorities say that the search will continue until there is a resolution. Many residents have stepped up to help with the search, including Nicky larson who runs a cafe in town and has been preparing meals for the rescuers searching for miller.
