Bismarck student's grenades prompt evacuation of elementary school

A Bismarck elementary school was evacuated when a student brought two World War II-era grenades to show classmates.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A Bismarck elementary school was evacuated when a student brought two World War II-era grenades to show classmates.

The school district issued a statement Wednesday saying the student did not intend any harm. But students at Pioneer Elementary School were evacuated as a precaution.

Police Sgt. Mark Buschena tells The Bismarck Tribune that a bomb squad determined the grenades were not functional. They were confiscated anyway, and Buschena says it's possible the student could be cited.
