ND Guard naming Sizer chief warrant officer

The North Dakota National Guard says Chief Warrant Officer Shelly Sizer will be the first woman named to the post of state command chief warrant officer.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota National Guard says Chief Warrant Officer Shelly Sizer will be the first woman named to the post of state command chief warrant officer.

The Bismarck Tribune reports that Sizer will take the job during a Saturday afternoon ceremony at the Raymond J. Bohn Armory in Bismarck

She'll replace Chief Warrant Officer David Jundt, who is retiring from the position after 42 years of service.

Warrant officers are considered the Army's technical experts in work, training and education.

Sizer, of Bismarck, enlisted in 1978, serving in the personnel section of the former headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 141st Engineer Combat Battalion in Valley City. She deployed to Kosovo in 2010.

Jundt joined the North Dakota Army National Guard in 1971 as a construction equipment mechanic.
