Travelers flying out of the Grand Forks Airport could soon have more flight options. That was one reason Grand Forks officials met with Delta Airlines President Richard Anders his morning in Atlanta. The first meeting since the airlines merged with Northwest Airlines which served Grand Forks.
GFK Executive Director Patrick Dame says they thought it would be a good opportunity for us to get there, and introduced ourself and meet some of the people down in Atlanta.
Dame says the meeting was primarily to let Delta know about Grand Forks and the opportunities that exist. Delta recently announced that by June it will have two daily round-trip flights between its Salt Lake City hub to Bismarck,
Minot and Fargo. Dame says that did come up in the conversation.
Dame : We really pushed what a great year we had last year. Numbers up twelve percent last year. A time when most airports really have seen negative growth.
While there where no actually commitment for more service, Dame says they did get their attention.
Dame: We had a committment from Richard Anderson that he was going to put together a team to analyze the Grand Forks market. And hopefully put together a plan for improved service.
