Dates set for North Dakota deer gun hunting season

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Dates have been set for North Dakota's two-week deer gun hunting season in the fall.

The state Game and Fish Department says the season will start at noon on Nov. 8 and run through Nov. 24.

The state is issuing 59,500 licenses this year, down 9 percent from last year and the lowest number in three decades. The drop reflects a tough, lingering winter that has been hard on the animals. Wildlife Chief Randy Kreil says deer populations are still below management objectives in most hunting units.
