The Dakota Horizon Girl Scout will be serving up more than just cookies this year.
The Safety First group is cooking up a new batch of rules and hopes many more will follow suit.
They are implementing a no texting...no talking on cell phones rule effective immediately for staff when driving a company vehicle...or transporting scout members.
While it may be difficult, it is in an effort to combat a bigger problem. Statistics show that eighty percent of teens have cell phones - the Girls Scouts want them to Mute it - Stow it and Stop it.
"We hope other organizations join in with us and start implementing the same kind of protocol in their own businesses with the no text, no talking while driving a work vehicle and once you start there, then you can it will transform into their own personal lives," says Shaleen Wieland, Dakota Horizons Girl Scouts.
The launch for the new campaign to the girls scouts and its volunteers will be May 1st at the Annual meeting in Aberdeen South Dakota.
