Lake Region Relay for Life hopes for another record year

Organizers say they're confident this year's Lake Region Relay For Life will remain the top-earning relay event in the nation.

Organizers say they're confident this year's Lake Region Relay For Life will remain the top-earning relay event in the nation.

For the last several years. The Lake Region Relay for Life has raised the most money per capita in the nation. This year 29 teams have signed up so far. Co-Chair Jan Kurtz says this year's goal is to raise 150,000 dollars, about 6,000 more than last year. Many local teams are holding fundraisers in advance of the race. Kurtz predicts the Lake Region will keep its title of as the top relay team in the country.

Kurtz: "I am confident. Our 29 teams are all very good teams and they have a very successful rate of bringing in money for the American Cancer society."

The Lake Region Relay begins at 7 pm on June 8th and runs for 12 hours.
