Today will no doubt be another hard day for the families of Sgt. 1st Class Darren Linde and Spc. Tyler Orgaard--but the surviving family members have gained some comfort in each other.
The sister of Tyler Orgaard and the daughter of Darren Linde started emailing and texting each other after the tragedy, but the two young women finally met in February, and have become fast friends since. Alexis Linde and Kristy Orgaard have attended countless Guard events together and have recently become roommates in Bismarck. They are different in that one has a big dog and one has a small dog, and Alexis says Kristy is more mature than her. But they share the decision to get permanent reminders of their lost father and brother.
In the house that they share as roommates, they have set up a shrine of pictures and memorabilia of their lost loved ones. They say members of the guard have been like a family and they now have each other to also lean on.
They are actually in Washington D.C. at the Memorial Day ceremony in Arlington Cemetery where President Obama is speaking. It's the first time to the nation's capital for both women.
