Two people were hospitalized after a traffic accident on Interstate 29 seven miles south of Grand Forks Wednesday night, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Veronica Calvert, 25, and Jacob Calvert, 25, both of Tuscumbia, Ala., were taken to Altru Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Calverts and two children were northbound in a 2011 Mazda around 6:35 p.m. when the driver, Veronica Calvert, lost control. Her car slid into the path of a northbound semi driven by Mitchell Gallo Jr. 56, Hatton, N.D.

The Mazda struck the tractor and slid into the median.

Everyone in the car wore seat belts and airbags deployed. Gallo and the children were uninjured. The car was totaled but the tractor had minor damage.
