Fargo firefighters rescue woman found floating in Red River

A woman was taken to the hospital early today after Fargo firefighters found her floating in the Red River. Her condition was unknown early this morning.

FARGO – A woman was taken to the hospital early today after Fargo firefighters found her floating in the Red River.

According to the Fargo Fire Department:

Fire crews responded to the Midtown Dam in Dike East Park about 1:30 a.m. on a report of a woman possibly in the river.

Fargo police arrived on the scene first and found a phone on the shore at the Midtown Dam but did not find the person it belonged to.

Police and firefighters then searched the area and a fire crew in a boat spotted a woman floating in the river about 20 yards north of the boat ramp in the Dike East Park.

Firefighters wearing cold water rescue suits pulled the woman to shore. Emergency workers performed CPR on the woman and she was taken by ambulance to Sanford Health.

Her condition was unknown early this morning.

This morning’s incident was similar to an early morning incident May 25, when a woman called 911 to report she was in the river.

When authorities arrived, they found a phone on riverbank and a woman clinging to a structure near the boat landing in Dike East Park.

In that incident, the woman was treated for hypothermia.

Information released by the Fire Department this morning doesn’t indicate whether the two cases were related.
